We see our patients on an appointment basis. Please call our office to make an appointment so that we can reserve time for you with the physician. We make every effort to honor all time commitments, but on occasion there may be a delay or an emergency. If this should happen, you will be informed and given the opportunity to reschedule to another time that is convenient for you. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least one day prior by calling our office at (605) 334-0393.
Thank you for choosing Surgical Institute of South Dakota for your surgical care needs. We realize that insurance and billing procedures can be complicated. The following summary of our financial policies should help to avoid confusion and provide a positive experience.
Please remember that you are responsible for payment of all charges, even if legal counsel represents you, or if there is a third party involved such as an insurance company or workman's compensation carrier. All co-pays and deductibles are due at the time of your visit. We accept Medicare assignment and participate with most major PPO's.
All of our patients are required to complete a Patient Information Form prior to their first visit. To expedite the registration process, you may download the form, complete it in its entirety, and bring it with you during your first visit. We will file a claim to your insurance company for you, including primary and secondary coverage. Please be sure we have current copies of your insurance cards and correct claim addresses. It's important that you contact us anytime you have a change in your insurance coverage.
Many insurance companies, including government-sponsored payors, such as Medicaid, require that you have referral authorization from your primary care physician or your insurance company before being seen by a surgical specialist. If you are unsure about your requirements, please contact your employer or insurance company as soon as possible. If your insurance company requires referral authorization, please obtain the referral and ask that it be sent to our office prior to your appointment. If that isn't possible, please bring the referral authorization and referral numbers with you to your visit.
We accept most workman's compensation insurance. Please remember that most insurance companies require workman's compensation patients to be pre-authorized before being seen by any physician. Your company may also require that you visit your primary care physician prior to being seen by a surgical specialist. If you have contacted your employer and insurance company, please have your case number and case manager's name ready for our Business Office staff.
